What are Subpectoral Breast Implants?
Watch this video by Samuel Shatkin Jr., MD, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Buffalo, NY as he explains pre and posterior subpectoral breast implants and when they are best implemented.
So the breast implants that get placed could be placed either above the muscle or below the muscle above the muscle. It’s called a pre-pectoral implant, which is basically on top of the pectoralis major muscle. If that implant has to be placed below the muscle, it’s a posterior pectoral implant.
The post-pectoral implants are especially good for those women that are very thin, and we need an extra layer of coverage over the implant. Many implants that are placed can be done above the muscle, which allows for an easier recovery and a much more natural look. But it all depends on which patient condition is that they start with.
