Tummy Tuck Healing Time

Watch this video by Samuel Shatkin Jr., MD, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Buffalo, NY as he explains the healing timeframe you should expect after undergoing a tummy tuck procedure.

Some patients that come to the office need to lose weight prior to the surgery. Generally when we’re performing any operation, but particularly a tummy tuck, we want the patient’s BMI to be at 30 or below. If they carry a little extra weight, myself and my staff can help them lose that weight to get them to their ideal condition prior to surgery.

One thing we would not want to do is have the patient undergo the surgery and then lose the weight afterwards. So we’d like to get them to their ideal weight. Otherwise, if they lose a lot of weight after the surgery, then we might have to come back and do some more skin tightening.
