When Will My Scars Heal From a Tummy Tuck?

Watch this video by Samuel Shatkin Jr., MD, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Buffalo, NY as he explains the timeframe for healing from a tummy tuck and what scarring you can expect.

A lot of patients ask me the question about how long will it take to heal and how long will the scars take to mature. The scars generally will heal in about 4 to 6 weeks, but the final result of a scar could take up to 6 to 9 months. We also instruct the patients with certain creams that they can use on their skin, as well as a special scar tape which will be available for them to help improve the quality of their scars.
