Dr. Shatkin has developed his S-Lift technique for facelifting. (“S” for Shatkin and Shortened recovery and incisions).

S-Lift in Buffalo, NYThe S-Lift is a 2 layer lift, both on the skin and on the deeper muscle and fascia layer beneath the skin, made through a shortened “S” shaped incision hiding in the creases around the ear.

This combination of external and internal lift technique allows for a quicker recovery due to the limited dissection or lifting of the skin from the lower layers, and use these deeper layers to anchor the lift, thus giving it stability for a longer lasting result.

Considerations

A limited-incision S- facelift may be an option for younger patients who have early aging changes. It provides the benefits of a traditional facelift with shorter incisions and faster healing.

Dr. Shatkin has customized his short recovery facelift with shorter incisions just below the sideburns and extending to the area around the ear and behind.

Who is a Candidate?

Patients with early aging changes, with limited laxity and desiring a refreshed look are ideal candidates.

Other patients that would like to have a quicker recovery may also choose the S-lift procedure.

Some patients with more advanced aging or skin laxity are still best treated with the traditional Facelift procedure.

Recovery

Patients return to the office the day after surgery for removal of bandages and that day can shower and shampoo their hair.

Usually within 5 days most of the stitches are removed, many are self-dissolving and by one week the patients can often return to work.

This quick recovery allows for less downtime and less dependence on family and friends.

Other Procedures

The S-lift can often be combined with ancillary procedures such as eyelifts when indicated.

When needed, superficial treatments to the skin may include chemical peels, laser resurfacing, microneedling or Morpheus8.
