What is Liposuction?
Watch this video by Samuel Shatkin Jr., MD, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Buffalo, NY as he explains how liposuction is used to remove unwanted fat from different areas of the body.
So many patients ask the question, what is liposuction? Well, a liposuction essentially is using fine stainless steel cannulas, which look like fine surgical straws that are connected up to a suction machine to aspirate the fat and bring the fat out from the areas of unwanted fatty deposition. So liposuction can be performed in any area of the body.
And sometimes it’s small areas like underneath the chin or love handles, and sometimes it’s more the entire torso or the legs. So liposuction is basically removing that fat under an anesthesia procedure.
