Brow Lift

 The following conditions could indicate that a brow lift surgery is right for you:

• Have a low or sagging forehead (a sad or tired appearance)

• Have deep horizontal creases across the forehead

• Have deep frown lines, or furrows, between the eyebrows

• Have other signs of aging in the brow region. A brow lift can be done in combination with other facial cosmetic procedures, such as eyelid surgery or a facelift to give a more balanced, natural rejuvenation.

Most procedures are performed in Dr. Shatkin's fully accredited office surgery suite as an outpatient procedure that allows the patient to go home the same day.

Dr. Shatkin uses only Board Certified Anesthesiologists for managing the anesthesia during his cases.  Twilight anesthesia is used with IV sedation and local numbing.

This is a less invasive alternative to the open brow lift.  This technique is often preferred for younger patients who suffer from mild drooping and wrinkling in the brow area.

During an endoscopic brow lift, the surgeon accesses the brow area through several small incisions in the scalp with a thin flexible scope.  The attached light and video camera allows the surgeon to see and work on the various internal structures of the forehead and brow to create a more youthful looking appearance to the upper face.   There are no incisions in the forehead and the scars are well concealed. 

The patient has a head wrapping placed after surgery.  This remains on overnight and is removed the next day at the office.  The anchors which support the lift are removed after about 2 weeks. Generally, most patients can resume normal light activity after 5-7 days.  Return to activities and work will depend on the level of exertion.  Most light duty jobs can be resumed before 1 week.
